How do we evaluate, whether a pair of shoes is fashionable or not? Of course, when we speak about simply liking this or that pair, everything depends on our personal taste. However, the notion “fashion†can be measured according to 5 main categories. This division was created by William A. Rossi, a specialist in fashion. So, which are the categories, that measure fashion?
Shape. It is generally assumed, that the shape of the shoe is governed by the shape of the last. What is more, many other factors are taken into account, such as the length of the vamp, the height of the heels and the shape of the toe.
Design. The design of the shoe disregarding the last is mainly expressed in the shoe’s being either a sandal or a lace-up. Design elements are those, in which the talent of the creator of the shoes is shown in the most vivid way.
Materials. According to William A. Rossi, “This category includes texture, weight, surface grain, and finish.â€
Color. Specialists distinguish more than 17 000 colours, that can be used for fashion purposes. However, the shoe may not only have one main colour, but also reflective tones and contrasting colours, which add to the image of your shoes.
Ornamentation and Treatment. This category includes all the small poignant details, that make your shoes even more attractive: buckls, buttons, straps, bows, and tassels.
